A Partnership with parents

You know your own child better than anyone and we see our work as a partnership with parents/carers to give each child good continuity of care.

Knowing your child also means knowing you and your family - the special days you celebrate, the family meal that has passed down through generations, what worries you and what comforts you, the relationships you hold dear. We hope all parents will engage with and feel like they are an important part of the life of the nursery.

Your child's key person

Our staff pride themselves on knowing the special things that are unique to your child. The music they sing and dance to, their favourite story book, the sparkle in their eye, their contagious giggle, when to hold their hand and the special cuddle that makes them always feel cherished.

Each child is assigned a Key Person. The partnership with your child's Key Person takes place prior to your initial settling-in session when your Key Person discusses your first visit with you. This special relationship is nurtured as your child's Key Person jointly co-ordinates your child's care and educational requirements by taking time with you to share ideas, listen to you and your child’s thoughts and reflect on your child's specific requirements.

Settling in for new children

We aim to make the transition between being cared for at home and coming to nursery as smooth as possible. All children are different and some take longer than others to adjust to being in a new place. When your child first starts with us we recommend a settling-in period whereby you will accompany them to their first session, perhaps leaving the room for a short time to have a cup of tea and see how they react to the new environment. If this goes successfully we would hope that you can stay and play with your child for some of the next session, and then leave for a slightly longer period. If all goes well you may find that you are able to drop off your child and leave them for the entirety of the next session.

The length of the settling-in period will be determined by your child. Most of our children have settled in very quickly but if your child needs longer to adjust we will work with you according to what they need.

Fees and payments

Please contact the TippyToes office for fee information. Fees are payable in advance at the beginning of the month. Fees include all food, whole milk and holiday charges. Nappies and formula milk should be provided by parents.

Childcare vouchers

Parents can currently exchange up to £243 per month of their gross salary for childcare vouchers. The exchanged part of the salary is exempt from tax and national insurance contributions. We currently accept all major childcare vouchers.

Pre-school government funding

The government currently provides funding for part-time pre-school hours from the term after a child's third birthday. If your child is eligible please discuss this with us and we can arrange to claim funding directly from the council and deduct this from your monthly fees.

If you have any questions regarding any of these arrangements please contact the TippyToes office on 01908 222 841 or 07889 122 480.
