ROARING LIONS

3 to 5 Years

In the Roaring Lions room there are new opportunities as we prepare the children to leave our care with confidence ready to start ‘big school’. We have two separate rooms for a maximum of 26 children.

Our main room has views across the garden. There is a role play area and a sitting area for circle times to sing, listen to stories and talk together. Our second room provides a space for craft and messy play, and a place for mealtimes. We encourage sociable conversation during meals and help children make healthy choices, serve their own food and drinks and use cutlery with confidence.

The children are offered a more structured day, activities are offered to prepare them for new social, emotional and academic challenges.

We support children to take the lead in their learning and include them in the planning process. We ask them to share their thoughts about what they have enjoyed during the day, what they would like to do again or do differently next time. We use these opportunities to reflect upon our practice and find new ways to adapt and extend the children's learning, capturing their interests and imagination to continually improve the quality of the learning opportunities that we offer.

Especially important for our Roaring Lions is encouragement, the celebration of achievements, independence with personal hygiene and good communication. They will learn practical skills, such as how to put on their own shoes and clothing. Children will learn to recognise letters and their names. They will have lots of opportunity to develop fine motor skills to support them with their handwriting as they begin to develop the skill of forming letters and numbers.
